Screenwriting with AI: a Creative Journey

While there are concerns that AI may diminish the value of human creativity, it is important to approach this issue with a proactive perspective. Screenwriting is an iterative process; to complete a film script, the journey is long and lonely. In the iterative process, creators often need others' opinions and inspiration, so screenwriters require a high level of self-regulation. Conversely, if creators lack inspiration and hit a creative dead end without making progress, they usually give up. This research project aims to use innovative AI screenwriting course to test whether GenAI can, to some extent, replace humans as creative partners for screenwriters. This would allow creators to engage in creative exchanges with AI 24/7 without time constraints, receiving feedback and responses at any time. The intervention aims to see if this can reduce feelings of loneliness and thereby influences self-regulation abilities, supporting screenwriters in completing their film scripts. This course is urgently needed for both the film industry and film education sector in order to cope with 21st-century learning skills.
